| HEADLINE | Property Rates bill double the property value |

I have received a rates bill for my flat in Big Bay, this bill was received by absolute accident as the address that was on it was not even any address that I have ever stayed at. (the amendments can be seen on there system) On getting this rates bill I noticed that they assumed that the property value was R1.12mil when in fact the property is only value at R699000.00 (property valuation was sent to them) their answer to me was that I have missed the Valuation objection date of 30 April 2010 and that my claim has been rejected. They made mention that they had advertised this and I never objected by the required date. The property is a flat and I assumed the rates were covered by the levies, until now. Besides if they had my address as any of the places that I have stayed I would have received the rates bill and I would have had the correct time to object. This is absurd that they can just dig their heals in and say the they will not amend my bill. Please help Thanks |
