| HEADLINE | BMW Gearbox built to last up until 160 000KM |
||
|
I have owned about 5 BMW's for the past few years and have always believed in the built quality of their products. I drive a 323i 2006 automatic BMW. My gearbox packed up now recently. BMW's excuse...'the gearbox is not ours we cannot assist in this matter'. After my issues raised with them was: 1. Is this a common problem with automatic transmissions in these BMW's 2. Did I buy a BMW that had a bad gearbox as it came out of the plant perhaps 3. Will they assist me in repairing this gearbox I was referred to the engineers ZF in the Cape Town office to assess the extent of the problems, and I contacted them and they say that this seems to be about more or less the amount KM before experiencing problems with their gearboxes that these gearboxes usually requires to be overhauled / replaced at about 160 000 to 180 000 KM. I am extremely disappointed in the built quality of this product. I have always serviced all my BMW's at a BMW dealership and to hear that replacing parts and overhauling will now cost me R27 000 and that BMW cannot assist in any part of the repair disappointed me to deciding not to buy BMW again. I have also requested a formal response from BMW and still waiting. |
