| HEADLINE | BMW 116i and 118i not such a great "Deal"... |
||
|
This is to make people aware of the "Fine print" in the latest BMW adds... Now I drive a Z4 myself - so I am a BMW fan, but am a bit disgusted by BMW's latest "Offering". They claim that you can drive a 116i and 118i for a small amount a month (Lets work on a 118i), but they do not tell you everything. I got a quote for a spec'd 118i - Price: R334 613.50. 0% Interest and 0% Deposit. Monthly payments = R4 655.30 / Month, with a limit of 80 000kms travel - they will buy it back at a Residual value of R156500.00 - IF you stay within the 80 000km limit! So lets do a bit of Math: R4655.30 x 54 months = R251 386.20 (Amount paid over the 5 year period). if you are within the 80 000km limit - good, if not, then you will be charged R5/km (You will not be told this). I drive about 30 000kms per year, so 30 000 x 5 = 150 000 - 80 000(limit) = 70 000 x R5/km = R350 000.00 which I would need to pay at the end of the 5yr period - if I signed the agreement. Now: R350 000.00 (Mileage payment)+ R251 386.20 (Amount already paid over the 5yr period) = R601 386.20 (Actual amount paid for a car worth R334 613.50). Strange how BMW neglects to inform people of this... |
