| HEADLINE | Forced to register with BIBIT |

When a private seller of a vehicle completes an online order, he/she is directed to make a credit card payment. No problem there. After completing all the usual confidential credit card information, enough for a normal credit card transaction, the seller is then redirected to a web site apparently managed/owned by BIBIT Payment Services. Here they once again demand personal information, including ID number and credit card details, whivch they explain they will use in future to control credit card transactions between parties. If this personal information in not provided to BIBIT on this web page, the transaction is suspended. In other words, AutoTrader users/seller are forced to register personal details with a third partry without explanation. A quick google of BIBIT suggests that an international organisation of that name does indeed exist, but some red flags are raised on blog posts about unidentified $50 charges. Google BIBIT ripoff. The main issue, however, is that consumers are being guided to register their personal and financial details with a thirds party, without any proper communication or apparent agreement by Visa or MasterCard. |

Hello ericst, Hi Eric Stockenstrom, Thank you for submitting your enquiry, we appreciate alerting us of this incident. After careful investigation, we realised that the last page that says 'payments handled by BIBIT' may have been the one that has raised alerts on your side. Basically, BIBIT like Paypal is our backend system that administers any payments made. We are aware that this pops up after you have submitted all your credit card details, but we reassure you that these are kept confidential and are in no way distributed to anybody else. Regards Customer Service Auto Trader |
