PLEASE close my account

I went to ABSA Sandton on 29/12/2011 to close my Current account at ABSA due to their lacks of service when I wanted it as well as monthly account fees.
They told me they cannot do it and I had to wait 3 work days. Just enough time for them to charge fees for another month. I took the blow and smiled as I knew it would end soon.
Went back on 9 Jan 2012 to close account. 6 working days later. This time they were ofline and I could not close my account.
20 minutes after I am back at the office the clowns sends me an SMS saying my account is overdrawn and I should rectify it ASAP. It went overdrawn due to their fracking bank charges. There was R83 in the account before the new month.
Sent e-mail... Got response back from [Email Removed] saying that I do not have to worry further as the account will be closed on 1 Feb. Automatically and all costs will be written off.
This did NOT happen and I got another SMS on 6 FEb to tell me to come and sort the account out. She is not responding to any e-mails. Neither is Actionline responding to any of my questions
I am thrilled that this account is almost closed. This is their final torture of my soul. ABSA you ****!!!

Indifferent: Was called by a lady from Sandton branch. She promptly resolved the issue. Account is closed. All costs reversed / written off.
So finally after 2 months of issues, the account is closed without me having to even go into the bank again.
This just leaves the question of ***!!! Why could this not be how things gets done in the first place? Age of electronic banking and all that. I am glad the account is now closed. Even gratefull. Why did it have to be this much of an issue though?
