Interest rate

In 2007 we registered a homeloan with ABSA. At the time the interest rates were very volatile. We then decided to fix our interest rate for a period of 10 years. We fixed in on a rate of 13.25%. In the tough financial times we live in today we opted to request the interest rate to be changed back to variable as we are paying a very high installment on this rate. We all try to cut down on our costs and to keep up to date with all payments to our creditors. We are aware that a penalty interest will be applicable however I feel that the one they gave us is very steep. They came back with an offer of 12.58%, which make almost no difference. Prime is currently on 9%, thus they are charging me over 3% for penalty??
I have always had a relative good experience with Absa and thought that they will be willing to assist??
Can this rate please be reconsidered?

Utterly Disgusted: Not willing to relook the interest rate
