Settlement Amount on Vehicle

I will be retrenched on 31 January 2012 and received my retrenchment letter earlier this month. All my colleagues who have vehicle finance contacted their respective banking societies and were given a significant discount when asking for a settlement amount on their vehicles. We are using our retrenchment packages to settle the outstanding debt on our vehicles. I phoned Absa vehicle finance twice yesterday and was told that they do not allow for this. To add insult to injury I was given the incorrect information by the first lady I spoke to with regards to my settlement amount. She said that the amount she was quoting me was inclusive of my debit order payment due on 5 February 2012. The second lady I spoke to said that it is not inclusive and that once my February debit order is deducted I must telephone the finance department and request a refund on that amount. I am utterly disgusted that firstly Absa will not give me a better settlement amount due to my retrenchment and secondly that I had to waste my time and money by phoning twice to get the correct information. If I ever apply for finance again it will be with Standard Bank as they have given discounts to all our staff.

Over the Moon: I was contacted by NODDY NAUDE who really went the extra mile to assist me with my problem. He explained in detail how the settlement amount I received was calculated and even went as far as cancelling my February 2012 debit order and closing my account to ensure that I would not have the inconvenience of having to phone in at a later stage to request a refund etc. Thanks so much to Noddy for all his help, it is very much appreciated.
