No accountability for goods left behind

On arrival at OR Tambo on 1 Time flight T6112 on the 16th of January 2012, I left my iPad in the sleeve in front of me in the seat I was sitting (Seat 31D) . Whilst driving in the shuttle bus from the airplane to the terminal I realised that I had left it behind. I then immediately proceeded to the 1 time counter at arrivals to inform them of what had happened. The gentlemen at the counter requested that I fetch my luggage from the conveyer belt whilst he tries to get my iPad for me. About 5 minutes later, I returned only to be told by him that it could not be found. The iPad was not in plain sight as it was in the sleeve behind the seat, tucked away. The only way anyone could have seen it was by taking it out of the sleeve pocket where the menu normally is. In the space of ten minutes it was gone from where I had left it. My police case number is CAS 139/1/2012 registered on 17th of January at OR Tambo International Airport. My 1 Time reference number for the incident is JNBT612/D/.I found the assistance and compassion afforded to me to be shocking by your staff. Within 5 minutes I was told that its gone and nothing more could be done.
SUPPLIER'S RESPONSE 1time Airline Time and Date 09:51:00 | Thu 19 Jan 12
Hello erhoda,

Thank you for posting your complaint.

We regret to note of your loss whilst in transit on a 1time flight.

The 1time terms and conditions as agreed to at time of booking are clear of what they state and read the following:

9.6. 1time will not accept liability for losses or damages to valuable items such as, but not limited to: cellular phones, jewellery, laptops or other computer equipment, electronic items, cash, credit cards, documents, spectacles, sun glasses, and fragile or perishable items.

This liability applies whether the missing is part of checked in baggage, or whether an item is left behind on board due to a passenger's negligence.

An announcement is also made after landing as a reminder to all passengers to thoroughly check their surrounding areas and seat pockets for their personal belongings before leaving the aircraft. Based on the above information and the 1time terms and conditions this missing item will need to be claimed from your personal insurance.

Kind Regards
1time.
