I HADN'T MISSED MY FLIGHT!

On Sunday, 05 February 2012, I had arrived at OR Tambo Airport at 19:05 to check in for my flight that was due to leave at 19:40. I handed in my ID document as I could not find my booking information in my handbag. The lady at the teller took my id and immediately told me that my flight had already DEPARTED and I had missed it. She said that I could not go on standby for the next flight (which was my ACTUAL flight) as check in had just closed and I would have to pay an admin fee which would hold up the whole plane. I pleaded with her to call somebody on the other side and check if I couldn't get on that flight but she turned me away and said I must purchase a new ticket and even if I went on standby for the next day then I would still have to purchase a completely new ticket.

I can accept responsibility for not having my booking details, however my name and surname which is on my ticket is on my id document. I was very upset with myself because I could not understand how I could make a mistake with my times when in actual fact the lady wasn't willing to help me. I also had an infant with me who was booked on the flight.

The general feel I got from the lady at the counter was

Utterly Disgusted: Candice Dorfling didn't even listen to my query properly. She is very unprofessional and it's like talking to a deaf person as she doesn't want to listen so it's less work for her to do.
