| HEADLINE | Plane delayed due to excess baggage |
||
| My colleague and I were returning from a conference in Joburg and were flying out on the 6.30pm flight on Tuesday the 31st of January. The plane was full and one of the crew announced that we would have to wait half an hour for the temperature to cool down before takeoff or 7 passengers would need to volunteer to stay overnight in Joburg and take the first flight out the next day. There was apparently too much luggage which compromised the weight limit of the plane. 7 passengers very kindly agreed to stay overnight but my question is why on earth doesn't the airline restrict the amount of luggage at check in instead of filling up the plane and then dealing with the problem. The following evening our branch manager was also booked on a 1Time flight to Cape Town, also at 6.30 and she had the same problem! They announced at about 6.15 that the flight would be delayed until 9pm because they were waiting for the temperature to cool down. Why is it that the other domestic airlines such as Mango and Kulula are able to take off around the same time and with the same temperature and aren't delaying their flights 2 days in a row!!! | |||

Hello GenCross, Thank you for your feedback. We apologise for the experiences your company had whilst traveling with 1time. there are a lot of factors taken into consideration when such a decision is made such as the aircraft performance, temperature etc. This is a restriction which is enforced by ATC (Air Traffic Control) en we have to adhere to it, unfortunately there is no debate in this, and safety comes first and will never be jeopardised. It also needs to be noted that the alternative carriers you are referring to use different aircraft models which naturally operate under different conditions. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that accompanied this unfortunate incident. We trust this will not alienate you from making use of our services in future. Kind Regards 1time |
